VIFF 2005 Film Guide Is Up!
The film line up for the 24 annual Vancouver Film Fest is up, and like every year, it has some of the best selection of asian cinema on this side of the Ocean. Of the movies, here's my selection of flicks that I'd see if I was there.
Crying Fist: Profiled earlier, it's said by many to best this year's best boxing flick. Take that, Ron Howard.
Blood Rain: A period detective thriller in the vein of Se7en.
Haze: Cronenbergian thriller by body horror master Tsukamoto.
Linda Linda Linda: Japanese teen comedy about an all girl band.
Takashis: New flick by Media Engine One, Kintano Takeshi.
Grain In Ear: Funny revenge flick from South Korea.

Thanks for the link.
Yeah, it's pretty funny about the Korean movie situation. I was hoping to be able to see Sympathy For Lady Vengence, but I have it on good authority that the organizer for the Tigers and Dragons isn't too fond of Chan-Wok Park. Pity.
On the bright side, the line up looks fantastic, despite a lack of Miike movies. Looks like he's starting to burn out.
I might have to look for some of these coming to Sundance this year.
Yeah, Vancouver has the best line up of Asian films in North America. Everything there is probably worth a look.
I forgot to list Racoon Princess on the list too, which may or may not interest you. It's by Seijun Suzuki, probably my favourite director of all time. The movie's a musical with Zhang Zhiyi, which scores so many bonus points that we don't need a multiplier to add it to the high score screen.
This is the yearly most awaiting event. We are excited to see the film guide and see the best selection of Asian Cinema.
